About us
We are a company and brand that delivers high-quality, functional wool garments to customers around the world. Our wool adventure began in Drammen in 1939, when Eivind Johansen came up with the idea of making insoles from wool felt. At that time, there was a lot of paper industry activity along the Drammen River, where timber was floated down from the surrounding areas. The damp cellulose pulp was released onto a conveyor belt made of wool felt, which often needed to be replaced. Eivind had the idea to punch out and edge-stitch insoles from the discarded wool felt, and together with his wife, Elsa, he started production under the name Tuna Tekstil AS in Drammen. In 1998, the brand name was changed to Aclima.

More than 80 years after starting with felt insoles, Aclima now produces high-quality wool products for outdoor enthusiasts, outdoor workers, police, firefighters, and defense forces. We have a strong focus on sustainability and are a forward-looking company. All production takes place in Europe, mostly in our own factories in Estonia. Our wool comes from merino sheep in New Zealand.

Animal welfare
It is important to us that you purchase a product we can fully endorse, all the way back to the wool we buy. That's why traceability is something we focus on. We are careful to ensure that all the animals we get wool from are well-treated, read more about it here.

Layer by layer
When we develop new products, we focus on functionality. How should our garments work to ensure you have a good experience when you're active? An important part of that is dressing in layers. All our garments are designed with consideration for where and when you will use them.

Size guide
We design, develop, and sew all products ourselves. Product development is a significant and essential part of our expertise. Patterns, stitching, fabric development, fit, and sizes are central to us. Learn more about how to find the right size for your product.

Take care of your wool
Once you've acquired quality wool from Aclima, it's important to treat it gently so it lasts year after year! Here you can read more about why sometimes you only need to air out your wool clothes, not always wash them.
